Heroes & Headaches: Rhode Island's Piracy Story In-Person

Join us for this engaging presentation on the history of the pirates and pirate hunters of Rhode Island.  Learn why people became pirates, how pirate ships were run, and weapons and tactics used, as well as, how piracy ended.  Welcome aboard as we discuss this hidden part of Rhode Island's history in the place that the pirates once called home, Newport, RI!

Luca Rebussini is a native Rhode Islander and a 6th grade social studies teacher at Jenks Middle School in Pawtucket, R.I.  He is a 2016 and 2017 graduate of URI with bachelor's degrees in history and secondary education respectively and a 2018 graduate of Western Governors University with a master's degree in ESL.  He began his pirate history speeches roughly a year ago out of a combination of a love of Rhode Island history, passion for teaching, and the fun of learning about the remarkable stories of pirates.
