Down the Mississippi: One man's solo 2,300-mile journey In-Person
Paul Mellor, author of Strokes of Kindness, will share the riveting story of his 2024 solo journey down the Mississippi River. It’s a story of paddling, persistence, and the people he met along the way.
Already a finisher of marathons in all 50 states and a cross-country cyclist, Paul set out in May 2024 in search of his next epic adventure. He found it on the mighty Mississippi. Over the course of three months, Paul paddled more than 2,300 miles - from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico - capsizing three times and contending with ticks, mosquitoes, flying fish, freighters, and even alligators. He navigated towering barges, sprawling lakes, and a labyrinth of locks and dams, ultimately reaching the Gulf on September 19.
