The "Larchmont" Shipwreck

The "Larchmont" Shipwreck In-Person

Join us on Tuesday, May 6 at 6:00 PM to revisit one of the most harrowing shipwrecks in Rhode Island history with Providence Journal Columnist Daniel Harrington.

Mr. Harrington tells the story of the SS Larchmont, a wooden side-wheel steamship, which collided with the Harry Knowlton, a three-masted schooner, just off Block Island in zero-degree weather in 1907. The presentation explores the ship, its crew and passengers, and the unbelievable tales of survival, panic, murder, and miracles, using digitally restored photos and eyewitness accounts. Harrington will share never-before-seen photographs and compelling stories of both tragedy and heroism.
